Ordino is a parish in Andorra that pays much attention to respecting the environment and its ecosystem. Here you will find the only Natural Park in Andorra, Sordeny Natural Park. Here you can practice not only ski, but other snow sports such as carving, raquet hiking, snowboarding, all of this in a very carefully protected and respected environment. The Campo de Nieve was created in 1982 and remains a popular destination amongst winter sport lovers, and there are plenty of lodgings around the area to choose from, as well as restaurants, shops, etc.
Located in the Orino Valley is the Centro de la Interpretacion (Interpretation Center), where you can learn about the environment that surrounds you, as well as everything you ever wanted to know about the Ordino Valley and its environment. The Center is divided into two zones, a stage for shows, and a place for exhibitions.
The Sordeny Natural Park is also located in this parish in the Andorran Pyrenees, and is considered the first natural park declared protected in the Principality of Andorra, boasting of unique flora and fauna only known to the Pyrenees. This is one of Andorra´s finest jewels as it has over 700 distinct species of plants, 60 of which only grow in this area of the world. |
